Practice Team

Physician Associate

We have had Physician Associates working with us at the Practice since 2015. Physician Associates are healthcare professionals with postgraduate generalist healthcare education. They are trained to work alongside doctors in the hospital or in General Practice.

Physician Associates see patients that are appropriate for their experience and scope of practice. They can make diagnoses, refer patients and request investigations.  They have learned the uses of medication but are not allowed to sign prescriptions. When a Physician Associate is working, they have a supervising GP who is there to support with clinical questions, sign prescriptions, and to review patient consultations.  Physician Associates do not have patient lists and are involved with managing episodes of illness. As well as direct patient care Physician Associates complete clinical administration work.

Clinical Pharmacist

We have had Clinical Pharmacists working in the Practice since 2015. Clinical Pharmacists are qualified healthcare professionals who train for many years to specialise in medicines and how they work. Most of our Clinical Pharmacists are Independent Prescribers who can prescribe medication and review long-term health conditions and medications. Our Clinical Pharmacists see patients appropriate to their experience and scope of practice. Our Clinical Pharmacists see patients for a range of conditions including minor ailments, high blood pressure, diabetes, raised cholesterol and asthma. Our Clinical Pharmacists have access to GPs for support when required and work alongside our doctors and other clinical staff to deliver the high-quality care that our patients have come to expect.

Paramedic

We have had Paramedics working as part of the practice since 2016. Our paramedics have trained and worked with the ambulance service in addition to training in a General Practice setting for many years. They have a wealth of experience of managing medical emergencies in the community. Our paramedics cover urgent home visits as well as being part of our daily urgent care team and seeing patients with minor ailments. They see patients appropriate to their experience and scope of practice. They work alongside our doctors and other clinical staff to deliver the high-quality care that our patients have come to expect. When a Paramedic is working, they have a supervising GP who is there to sign prescriptions, support with clinical questions and to review patient consultations.

All our clinicians have nationally recognised qualifications, training and supervision that allows them to practice in primary care and maintain professional development.
